Charlie (in all of her two-year-old wonder) collected these shells on a 7 am walk along the beach.
We told her that she would get a surprise. She thought it would be be something electronic.
(How happy we were to discover that kids can still enjoy the free things in life)!

DIY:
Collect shells.
Paint insides gold.
Drill hole.
String twine.
Tie off end.
Instantly happy child.

& Here is a little behind-the-scenes of some prep for an upcoming editorial shoot:
(oil based paint markers on fall leaves & dipping of pine cones.)

Two things I have always wanted to do but never found the time.
(Thank god for rainy island days & a nearby Michael's craft store)

A perfect weekend for me is summed up with two things: hitting flea markets with friends & shooting a finished project.

It was a 2-star weekend recently, where we hit the Elkhorn Antique Market & wrapped a lifestyle shoot for the canned hammed trailer (magazine is Secret Squirrel- stay tuned for deets on when it hits stands.)

 THE SCORE:
- a big, fat collection of silver souvenir spoons.
- the most lovely hand-made wooden and feather antique darts
- a beautiful grouping of silver server ware
- one mans entire history of hunting as told by his license buttons.

Secret squirrel behind-the-scenes at the lifestyle photo shoot for a magazine:

I am so freaking enamored by this adorable couple.
Not sure that we've had a cuter pair at camp since... well - ever.

The folks at Apartment number 9 and Michael Oneal shot a new campaign for their latest issue of 'The Bulletin' series.
This one's featured as 'GONE CAMPING'.  check it out.

Meet Joe and Hannah: beyond cute, they are also really nice.

I love this feature where you can 'shop the story' from the shoot- I think this could also be called 'the camp getaway outfit'. (sigh)-- check it out

Our friend bob stopped by this afternoon for a coffee.

Camera in hand, he roamed around and grabbed some scouting shots for an upcoming shoot.

I love his eye.
Fast. Easy. Honestly lit.

(We stare at the same things every day, and he sees them entirely differently)

Highlights:
Jack + Angela on the stairs!
Charlie's lowrider (thanks, wills!)
and our $alvation army couch

Long live thrift store furniture !!
(where most of our stuff if sourced from)

Check out bob's amazingness:

How do you get a thousand likes for an iphone shot of a butcher block?
by being nathan michael.

He arrived at the house at 10 am.
By the time he left at 1pm, he had 1500 more followers on his feed.
(His work is so beautiful that Instagram put him on their suggestion list).

He shot some stuff around the house, some of the new (secret squirrel) camp project, and we drank alot of espresso. Stay tuned for a collaboration later this summer.

Thanks, Nathan!

Here are some snaps from his visit:

from our camp wandawega shoot: (944 likes?!)
