the thing about old taxidermy is that you have to have a strong stomach. fish with missing eyeballs, bearskin rugs with missing claws and teeth, a chewed -up stuffed squirrel... the reality is that when it's dead... eventually it's gonna rot. no way around it.
but that doesn't stop me from buying it up every chance i get.
case in point: the fish wall. (picture here- it's in the camps 'card room' in the hotel)
don't look too close, some of these suckers are over 60 years old and have seen better days.
missing scales aside, they still make for a fun camp-y wall collection.
long live taxidermy!
as for the ducks- well, i didn't pay more than $5 for any one of them, and just park em' everywhere. (the decoy was handmade by my grandfather- tho- its my favorite, hand carved and painted in the late 40's).
