and excerpt:
"Tereasa Surratt and David Hernandez, two advertising executives who bought a rundown former resort on Lake Wandawega in Elkhorn and spent the next several months fixing it up into a weekend retreat for themselves - and, on occasion, up to 60 of their closest friends.
Situated on 25 acres with a main lodge, a three-story house and three cabins, the former resort has been restored to a 1950s camping-theme glory, complete with tartan wool blanket upholstery, hand-made curtains made from found bark-cloth table runners and chenille bedspreads.
The property also includes a small cabin that used to sit next door to Surratt's grandmother's house in central Illinois. Surratt bought it in 2006 and had it moved to the Elkhorn property. She has written a book about the experience, "A Very Modest Cottage," which will be published next year.
Surratt and Hernandez show off their Elkhorn retreat to friends every October, in a celebration they call "Wandaween."
I was there and it is the most fun, lovely, place that I have ever been!! Tereasa and David, I thank you for allowing access, even if it was only one weekend! Love you both like my own, Portia Lynn French from Tereasa's old home town. Can't wait to read your book!!!
