i cant figure out if folks are freaked out by the thought that the original owners are now all dead,
or the thought that there may be some residual ghost karma lingering in the objects...
anyway,
folks that suffer from this should not come in here.
everything has a story, and yes, all of the original owners of these lovely things are now
long gone.
CURTAINS:
i made them from 1800's linen hand embroidered french bed linens (found at a flea in the south of france)
LINEN STORAGE TRUNK:
1915 travel case with brass fixtures and leather bindings. (flea market find at the holy grail: walworth county flea market) $45 bucks becuase the dude didnt want to load it back into his truck at the end of a long day with short sales.
TUXEDO SHIRT:
Found in a box at a church charity shop. its a lovely, stained old turn of the century mens ruffled tuxedo shirt-- so heavily aged it's frayed at almost every corner. (a perfect night shirt!)
PRIEST'S VESTEMENT:
found in the closet when we bought Wandawega. Given its age, it was likely a hand-me-down from one of the Catholic Latvian mother churches in Chicago. Its made of lace and amazing.
HAND WOVEN COVERLET:
picked up at a resale shop for $30. full sized and amazing.
BEDFRAME:
20's head + footboard. i paid for this in quarters, one weekend at a time when i was in college (bartending tips) it took me 6 months to pay it off.
I do not have panphobia. ;) I love things with a story and a past...
